Spirit of Hope Farm began as a horse rescue in 2006. Because of our interest in the humane care of horses, we have branched out to also include the humane production of food animals as an alternative to factory farmed cruelty. Our cows and pigs are raised with attention to good husbandry practices. Our animals are never abused or neglected, cruelly confined, or left in dirty, dark barns. Even transport to the butcher is done with an eye to comfort of the animals.

As a way to show you the stark difference between the management of our animals and the inherent cruelty of intensive confinement systems, not to mention the additional pain and suffering inflicted upon pigs by poorly trained and/or ignorant farm hands at these large facilities, click the link below. The farm depicted in this video produces pork for Tyson, a major pork product manufacturer. Warning: This video contains graphic instances of animal abuse that are shocking and will undoubtedly make you sick to your stomach. It will hopefully anger you to action, however, and encourage you to support local farmers who DON'T engage in such heinous acts and will encourage you to change your buying practices to help us put an end to factory farmed cruelty!
