ABGA Registered Boer Goats

We became interested in goats as a natural extension of our humane meat production enterprise.  Because goat meat, also known as "chevon," is low in saturated fat, low in cholesterol, and equivalent to chicken or beef in protein, it has become an increasingly popular meat in American cuisine and so we wanted to try our hand at goat-herding for meat production.  In the spring of 2013, Jess, Sadie and I attended the Northeast Livestock Expo at Windsor where we purchased our first goats, S07 Sawtooth Ruby and her twin kids, a buckling and a doeling.  Initially, we had planned to keep the girls and eat the buck but... yeah.  My little buck baby, and the Boer breed in general, quickly wormed his way into my heart and so our Boer adventure has begun!

Below: Our first goats, our big red doe, S07 Sawtooth Ruby, and her twin kids, S07 Spirited Willard (solid head), and S07 Spirited Waldeen (blaze face).

New additions to our herd:

Of course, when we started in goats we intended to breed Boers with a focus on quality genetics from proven producers. We struck gold with our first three goats but knew we would want to add to our little herd.  This summer, we added a nice little doeling to our herd that we named Mini Mt Spirited Jezebel.  "Jezzy" as she is called, is a bit on the small side but nicely structured and sweet as can be!  She has excellent bloodlines as well with ennobled goats on top and bottom in her pedigree, including RRD Ruger T307 on top and Eggs Lover, MC2R830, CBC Freightrain, Eggs Mariana, and Eggs P786 on bottom.  We are hoping to breed her to Willard next year.

Is this not the cutest goat face ever?!?

Yes, in fact, I AM cute!

Check back on our ABGA Boer Goats page and watch us as we grow!  We have bred Ruby, our big red doe, to a paint buck, Nemo Copper Storm, and are hoping for some paint kids in February!
